Περιγραφή

The inclusion in one book of concise “aphoristic” texts, without this being the only way of characterizing Eva Chronis’s scripta succincta, with the singularly evocative title The modernist version of memoring, vividly revives a literary genre that was cultivated with especial success in France during the 19th and 20th centuries. Although these are scattered images, frequently with barely or no affinity between them, you feel them being transformed into a channel, so as to express the deeper meaning of a psychological and intellectual world, with the prominent footprint of an enclosed personal adventure. Nonetheless, it is noteworthy that the tenant farmer of the Thessalian plain, the Venetian conquerors in the highlands of Crete, and the wise-guys Shifty, Tatty and Hefty who existed – and always exist, in different form – without the one even suspecting the existence of the other, create the preconditions for a sideways glance within the unofficial, yet dominant version of History, so that it be written ab origine. At the same time, the book is a personal adventure amidst words, meanings and semiotics, in a way that even a sybilline terseness such as that of “Miro’s lines”, brings a modernist reasoning.
